According to The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) more than $500 million in losses were reported in 2022 as a result of fraud. 

 

Romance fraud is one of the fastest growing scams in Canada and is responsible for the second highest amount of fraud-related dollar loss in 2022 (the first being investment scams).
